The Denali Education Center is proud to announce the sponsoring of the expedition “Wilderness of Denali 100”. Executive Director Willie Karidis will spend 70 days in the backcountry of Denali National Park retracing, researching and celebrating the life of pioneering naturalist Charles Sheldon. Sheldon spent the winter of 1907 - 08 in the heart of the Alaska Range. Sheldon had the vision for a National Park that would preserve for future generations this unique natural eco-system.

Are you tracking your location day to day via gps?
Jeff,
I think you want to know if we track the wolves daily with GPS...Tom, the Wildlife Biologist at the park, has been sending me updated information on the wolves. (It looks like they track them daily at 8am via GPS.) But, I do NOT get daily updates. All updates that I receive from Tom I post on the blog. Thanks for following. I think the wolves are very exciting! Cheers, Christine

Let me clarify. I am interested in how Willie will determine the locations of Sheldon's photos and if there is any plan to either store these locations digitally and or on a paper map.
Jeff,
Willie does not have a gps out there. He is going off of the book locations, photos that Sheldon took 100 years ago, and maps. He then matches it up to the area. When he finds the exact match (to the Sheldon photos) he takes the photo. I am not sure how many he has at this point. But know that he has a few more in the works for the month of March. He is storing the locations on his map & in his journal. Cheers, Christine
